Oh My Aching Back

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo… I did it again. i have a pinched nerve from a herniated disk in my lower back. I can’t. no no no. please no. it’s been almost two weeks since it happened (during sex) and there is now referred pain down my leg into my calf. I can’t run and I shouldn’t play tennis but I’m in the playoffs with Andraya. We post-poned one match and played it Monday–we won. So, we’ll be playing again in a week. so until then i will rest my back and do the back exercises and use the tens unit. I’m so sad.

First of all I don’t want to get fat again and secondly, I am miserable not being able to run. I asked God to remove my vanity and so is He going to let me get all fat again? Why can’t He just force-teach me how to not care what people think and only care what He thinks. Why do I always have to learn the hard way.

Maybe I’m not making sense. I’m definitley PMSing and definitely should stop writing or I’ll bring myself down more. bah humbug

Getting Faster

I did the loop (3.2 hilly miles) in 36 minutes. About 10 minutes faster than usual! My calf muscle hurts though. My goal is to do the loop in 30 minutes. If I can do the loop in 30 minutes then I’ll add 2 miles to my run.

Still thinking about doing the Half in November. I hope I can do it.

Andraya and i won City Finals Saturday for T2 tennis. That’s our second crystal ball and our 17th consecutive match without a loss! We have never lost. We are getting cocky.

Today I will ride Blue 6 miles. Plus, I think I have tennis practice. I’m wasting time online on facebook and politics. oy vey. I need to do the bookkeeping for NAB and also clean the house! I will vacuum today.,

rag weed

Ugh. It is rag weed season here in Atlanta. And I hear with all the rain we had last week–from Hurricane something or other–the rag weed season has started early and will last for two months. This is really putting a damper on my training. I ran two miles this week and felt like my head was going to explode. I’m starting to worry about the chances of me really running the Half. 😦

On the positive side, I have sold enough crap on Craigslist over the last three weeks to finally have enough money to by my road bike! I am going to go get it tomorrow. At Reality Bikes, in Cumming. A Fuji Finest 1.0. Reality Bikes is putting all their ’08 bikes 15% off starting tomorrow.

I was all set to sell my treadmill for $100, but once I realized the rag weed situation I changed my mind and kept the treadmill so I can run inside. The Half is not out of the question yet! I’m just hitting the allergies obstacle and need to figure out what to do next.

I’m a Beginner!

Way cool. I’m officially a Beginner. I just ran 4.8 miles. It took me 1 hour and 5 minutes. After I ran for 1 hour and 5 minutes I went back through with my car to see how far it was and it was 4.8 miles. Even though Runner’s World says FIVE miles is a Beginner, I’m close enough. I’m so tired (knees achey) but I am so happy I did it!

From here to the Creekside loop is 1 mile each way. The loop itself is .6 mile, and I did this three times. Then the home to Overlook back to home loop is 1 mile.

Great. So now I can start training for the Half. And even better, tomorrow is a REST day.

my first triathlon

I did it. My first triathlon. It was incredible, so much fun. I started training right before the 4th of July for the sprint thriathlon at Georgia Memorial Veterans State Park in Cordele, Georgia. Today, August 16, 2008 I can check one more thing off my “50 things to do before I die” list I wrote up when I was 25.

I’m 38. Actually I forgot I was 38 today at the triathlon and told the guy with the permanent marker I was 37. It wasn’t until the ride home when I remembered that I am actually 38. Brain fart.

My Mom came with me, which brought me back to my childhood when she would attend my gymnastics meets. In the same role, she was there cheering me on, helping where she could and simply being present. yay.  Although we broke the rules without realizing it when she stood in the transition area with me to help me put on my shoes after the swim.  Nobody is allowed in the transition area except the participant.  ha ha

Here is a picture of the swim–I’m way over to the left, trying to avoid the feet kicking in my face.
